SMS privacy policy & terms clause generator

Generate the SMS sections carriers look for: the "no sharing of mobile information" privacy clause and CTIA-style SMS terms. Copy them into your existing pages, or download two starter pages (separate privacy and terms URLs, as toll-free verification requires).

Frequently asked questions

What must an SMS privacy policy say?

Reviewers look for a statement that mobile information is not shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, and that text messaging opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties. Any broader sharing clause in your policy must explicitly exclude SMS data.

What goes in SMS terms and conditions?

The program name and description, how to opt in, message frequency, 'Message and data rates may apply', how to opt out (STOP), how to get help (HELP and a contact), a statement that carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages, and a link to the privacy policy.

Do I need separate URLs for privacy and terms?

For toll-free verification, yes: new submissions need a Privacy Policy URL and a separate Terms and Conditions URL. For 10DLC it is still the safest setup.

Can I use the starter pages as my full policy?

They are a starting point for businesses that have no policy at all. Privacy laws differ by state (for example California's CCPA), so have them reviewed before you rely on them.
