Sole Proprietor A2P registration: limits, OTP and rejection codes
Short answer
Sole Proprietor registration is only for US or Canadian individuals and small businesses without an EIN. You get one campaign and one phone number, low daily limits, and an SMS code to verify your mobile number. If your business has an EIN or is an LLC or corporation, register a standard brand.

Why it happens
- The business has an EIN or is an LLC or corporation (30903, 30915, DCA 801).
- The campaign, samples or website use a business name that differs from the registered owner's name (30914).
- The verification code wasn't confirmed within 24 hours, or went to a landline or VoIP number.
- The mobile number, email or address has been used for too many sole proprietor brands.
- The provider doesn't support sole proprietors (Bandwidth).
How to fix it
- If you have an EIN, register a standard (or low-volume standard) brand instead.
- Use your real name and a US or Canadian wireless mobile number. Reply to the verification text within 24 hours.
- Keep the same name across the campaign, website and samples.
- Use a provider that supports sole proprietors: Twilio, HighLevel, Telnyx and SignalWire do; Bandwidth doesn't.

Frequently asked questions
I'm a single-member LLC. Am I a sole proprietor?
Not for 10DLC. LLCs, corporations and anyone with an EIN must register a standard brand (DCA 801, Twilio 30915). Sole Proprietor is for people without an EIN.
Can I add a second number or campaign later?
No. Sole Proprietor brands are limited to one campaign and one phone number. If you outgrow that, get an EIN and register a standard brand.
Do sole proprietors need a BRN for toll-free?
No, at Twilio and Bandwidth sole proprietors are exempt from the toll-free BRN requirement. Expect extra checks at other providers.
